Algernon Sydney Field established his Solicitors including rights of way practice in 1834, at 42 Warwick Street. Soon after, Mr William Overell took offices at Number 33 in the building opposite. Both were succeeded, as they qualified, by their sons and successive generations of their families and more recently by the existing partners of the two firms.
For over a century and a half the two firms
administered to the legal needs of succeeding generations of local families and their businesses and enjoyed a friendly rivalry.
By joining forces in 1989 our two long established firms met the challenge of the 1990's and the requirements of an increasing number of clients seeking access to the evermore complex law.
In 1997 the firm was granted a Legal Aid Franchise in Civil Litigation, Divorce and Crime. This was only granted after the most rigorous audit of the firm's procedures and service. We apply the same criteria to all of our work.
With this background and with the backup of the latest computer technology FIELD OVERELL will continue to offer a comprehensive legal service without abandoning the traditions of personal service to our clients.
We are ready to help with sympathetic advice, not just in happier times such as buying your own home, or starting or expanding a business, but also during divorce, employment problems, civil court work and bereavement.
Our Costs
We believe our fees are reasonable and competitive and will be pleased to provide a free written quotation concerning conveyancing matters and Wills, on request. We can explain more complex matters at our initial interview. In relation to civil litigation it may be possible for us to undertake the work on a contingency or conditional fee basis. Please ask us for details of this. We would be happy to explain.Legal Aid
We are happy to take on Legal Aid cases and hold a Legal Aid Franchise in Divorce and Crime. If in doubt as to whether or not you qualify for free representation please ask. We will not charge for a consultation, if it turns out you do not qualify and do not feel able to proceed.New Clients
